Trim Line Optimization

In sheet metal forming, a multi-operation stamping process requires an optimum trim line. This is important in order to ensure that the desired shape and dimensions of the part boundary are obtained upon completion of the operations following trimming.

With AutoForm software, the trim line is automatically adjusted to remove or add sheet metal until the desired part boundary is achieved. By optimizing the trim line, the need for laser-trim tryouts is eliminated later on in the process, thereby significantly reducing lead time and costs.
