Application Engineer

Your tasks:

  • Technical account management for Automotive OEM’s, Tier One Stamping Suppliers and/or Die Houses
  • Comfortable using AutoForm simulation software (with close supervision) to support our clients in developing stamping dies to their specific design criteria
  • Maintaining strong and professional relationships with key AutoForm software users, decision-makers, and influencers
  • Understanding client’s general design process and simulation requirements
  • Technical software training teaching clients how to use software
  • Documentation of client visits
  • Technical pre-sales discussions, software demonstrations and showcases
  • Develop AF software breadth to become Subject Matter Expert (SME) on one or more software application domains
  • Provide daily customer support including up to 20% on-call phone support
  • Technical software testing prior to software release
  • Software delivery and installation to clients
  • Participation with global technical experts' and local engineering teams to learn advanced application techniques, software enhancements, internal knowledge transfer

Professional background:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other related degree
  • Ability to perform technical support under supervision and able to absorb knowledge of company’s products and services
  • Experience in Sheet Metal Forming, FE Analysis, Die Design, Body Design or Equivalent is a plus
  • Experience or course work in Finite Element Analysis, sheet metal stamping, and/or materials engineering is preferred
  • Desire to do software simulation is a must
  • Background in the following is a plus:
    - Die construction and process layout for stamping dies
    - Draw die development and Hot Forming
    - Production process engineering
    - Stamping simulation, finite element simulation and/or computer aided design
    - Die tryout
    - Production quality / statistical process assessments
    - Sheet metal product design / engineering
    - Materials background
  • Experience with CATIA V5, Unigraphics, NX, DynaForm, LS-Dyna, or PAM Stamp is a plus
  • Willing and able to travel within and outside the US, Canada, with occasional travel to Europe
  • Motivated to succeed in a small company environment
