AutoForm Training Seminars:
Material Behavior in Sheet Metal Forming

This course covers the basics of material behavior of steel, high strength steel, ultra high strength steel and aluminum in sheet metal forming processes. Issues such as material behavior under a variety of forming conditions and properties which influence this behavior are discussed. Topics are illustrated with practical applications.

The introduction of mechanical properties and material behavior contains:

Flow curve; mechanical properties, approximation & extrapolations
(Ludwick, Swift, Voce)

Forming Limit Diagram; grid analysis, FLC creation
(Nakazima, Marciniak)

Material laws and yield locus
(Hill, Barlat)

Steel, high strength steel, ultra high strength steel;
DP (Dual Phase), CP (Complex Phase),
Trip (Transformation Induced Plasticity) and Ms (Martensite)

Aluminum

The main focus of the course is on interpretation - deriving and using material data in order to understand and interpret material behavior. The preparation of material data required for forming simulations is also covered.

Audience

This course is intended for part designers and tool makers in the automotive industry, as well as for staff carrying out forming simulations.
