The 6th International AutoForm UserMeeting for Russian-speakers
brought together approximately 30 people in Moscow at the Auto-Mechanical
University MAMI, February 15-17, 2005. As in previous years,
engineers from industry and academia with an interest in advanced
methods of sheet metal forming simulation attended the event.
Dmitry Buzlaev and Dr. Bart Carleer were the official representatives
from AutoForm Engineering.
During the first half of the first day, Dmitry Buzlaev presented
an overview of the many new features of AutoForm version 4.0
and gave a live software demonstration. After the lunch break,
Dr. Bart Carleer explained AutoForm-Sigma’s revolutionary
new approach for process robustness and sensitivity, in practical
and easy to understand terms. Members of the audience, especially
from large automotive companies, expressed a keen interest in
being able to evaluate the influence of the scatter of material
characteristics on the sheet metal forming process.
User presentations then followed regarding new and innovative
applications of AutoForm software in the Russian automotive industry.

that customers are realizing from the application and integration
of different AutoForm software modules, such as AutoForm-DieDesigner,
AutoForm-Trim, etc.

During the day, participants had the opportunity to discuss
problems, techniques and solutions with other AutoForm users,
to establish new relationships with colleagues, and to meet friends.
Since 1998, the AutoForm Russian UserMeetings have provided a
unique forum for sheet metal forming experts from modern Russia
and former Soviet Union republics to meet and share their expertise.
At the end of the first day, the organizers of the event from
AutoForm and MAMI University held a party for the participants,
in the Metal Forming and Car Body Design Department of the university.
The party atmosphere was very friendly, and Dr. Bart Carleer,
on his first visit to Russia, had the opportunity to see a wonderful
winter scene of snow-covered, downtown Moscow.
The next two days were dedicated to update trainings and workshops
regarding AutoForm version 4.0. Participants were pleased with
the new features of the software, which address many of their
needs and requirements.
Many thanks to all who participated in the UserMeeting, and
especially to the presenters from industry and organizers from
