Simulation & Tool Coatings – AutoForm and VST Keller Collaboration

AutoForm Engineering of Switzerland, the leading supplier of software solutions for the sheet metal forming industry, is pleased to announce a joint development project with VST Keller of Germany, leader in material coatings for tools.

According to Dr. Waldemar Kubli, CEO of AutoForm Engineering: “By combining sheet metal forming simulation with expertise on material coatings for tools, this will provide our customers with new insights and know-how on how to improve their tool designs early in the product development process.“

VST Keller is well-known in Europe as the leading provider of tool coatings for the automotive industry. Their tool coatings are based on advanced surface technology and proprietary materials and processes.

Mr. Jörg Keller, General Manager of VST Keller, also foresees significant advantages of this collaboration, especially for customers in the fields of tool design and stamping. “The automotive industry in particular requires longer lasting and lower cost tooling. As a result of our collaboration with AutoForm, companies will be able to identify tool wear problems and solve them already during the early stages of the vehicle development process. This will significantly reduce the amount and cost of tool modifications during the try-out and start-up phases.”

In addition to this collaboration project with VST Keller, AutoForm is also involved in numerous joint development projects with automobile manufacturers, automotive suppliers and universities.

Dr. Waldemar Kubli also added: “We are looking forward to the results from this promising project, which was signed in November 2004. We want to provide our customers with the benefits of integrated know-how about coatings and materials early in the product development process.”
