This training is focused on the robustness analyses of sheet metal forming processes. Such analyses provide valuable information on the expected amount of rejects and allow for the virtual verification of alternative parameters to stabilize the process, before the tools are manufactured from steel and cast iron.

The following main topics will be covered in detail:

  • Analysis of the influences and implications of the scattering of production parameters such as material properties (e.g. yield stress, sheet thickness, or tensile strength), friction, binder force or initial blank position
  • Analysis of the process robustness with respect to the absence of splits, springback stability or stretching considering noise factors
  • Verification of a robust process window

The information gained from such analyses can assist in the eradication of issues identified very early in the development cycle and thus result in drastic time and cost savings.

Using practical exercises, the participants will be shown how to rapidly and effectively set up and evaluate robustness analyses.
